CAMERAS
The PANASONIC DMC-FZ28 18x optical zoom
My new camera which I have had since Christmas 2008 has been great for taking photos of birds and butterflies who tend to fly off as soon as you get near them. It has also been useful for taking pictures of the frogs as they tend to sit at one end of the pool, getting a picture from the far end is now easier.
Close up pictures of flowers with the macro setting is very satisfactory as the flower is focused on giving a clear image.
Some of these photographs have been taken using an Olympus Digital 600. I have found this camera to be difficult to use at times. The LCD screen is hopeless in some circumstances. The light reflects back off the viewfinder and it really is a case of
firing off blind.
Having said that it does take some really good photos and is at its best when taking closeups.
Once I have taken my photograph I upload it to my computer. If the colours are way out I use Paint Shop Pro to adjust it, reducing the picture five times first which takes less time. Then it is ready to upload to my website.
The photos are then uploaded in jpg form and optimised for the web.
Trying to get a photograph in a hurry doesn't always work. If it is on the correct setting at the time there is a good chance of getting the shot. Otherwise it is a case of going through the various settings
and trying one or two till you are happy.
The long shots of the squirrel has been taken with Konica Minolta Z3.
This is a brilliant camera for zoom
photographs.
