Garden Problems Weeds Bugs & Diseases

WEEDS

We have a problem with Horsetail in our back garden. It is in the gardens next to us as well. It spreads like widfire. Horsetail I have discovered is a tremendous problem in Australia. Anyone interested can visit a website giving information about it. Find it in my Links.

BUGS

I have added another website to my list. This is due to more news about the Harlequin Ladybird.

IVY grows well in my garden but it can be bad for people with sensitive skin. There is something called Urushiol found in the leaves and stems. It is a kind of oil and it can be transferred on the coats of animals. If you are allergic at all please check this one out.

It is after all called "poison ivy".

In July the Horsetail had gone berserk. So I decided to turn more of the garden over to grass. At least the horsetail is not so noticeable in the midst of a lawn.

The Spanish Bluebell can overtake our native Bluebell. Some other plants can also be invasive some of which are introduced into our ponds and smother them. A list of these plants is available on this website.
