Trees

Trees are essential to us in many ways, they shade us in the hot weather, bear fruit and flowers, shelter birds and other wildlife. Tall Conifers and elegant Silver Birch trees, Sycamore, with the fascinating way of dispersing its seed (children throw them in the air and watch them come down like helicopters). Lilac and Apple trees with gorgeous blossoms, there are so many to choose from and many you can just grow in a pot.

At the beginning of December you may be aware that there is going to be a lot of tree planting events. Most of these events invite the public to join in and help, adults and children can join, making sure that children are accompanied b y an adult.

A few of these are going to be held in Cumbria where they have had such bad weather and terrible floods. Hopefully the weather will improve by the 5th December so these plantings can be carried out. Appropriate clothing is an absolute must wherever you join in. Parts of Scotland, the South of England and Wales have had floods as well so to plant so many trees is going to be quite a challenge.
